Jadon Sancho responds to Cole Palmer’s message after Chelsea development
Chelsea ace Cole Palmer bagged a goal and an assist in a player-of-the-match performance in their 3-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Sunday (December 1), earning praise from Jadon Sancho.
Palmer, 22, ended a mini goal contribution drought, having failed to score or provide an assist in his previous three Premier League games to keep Chelsea in the top four.
The attacking midfielder has managed to carry his remarkable form from his breakout 2023-24 campaign into this season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 1132 minutes of play.
Since joining the club, Enzo Maresca has implemented a two-squad system, preferring certain players for certain competitions, with Palmer starting all 13 of Chelsea’s Premier League games.
Jadon Sancho full of praise for Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer
Fresh from Chelsea’s 2-0 Europa Conference League victory over FC Heidenheim midweek—where the 25-year-old winger provided two assists—Sancho made his second consecutive start after sitting out six games across all competitions due to illness and fitness issues.
Sancho has primarily been used domestically, playing 383 Premier League minutes across seven appearances, five of which have been from the first whistle, providing three assists in the process.
Unlike the game against Heidenheim, his first in Europe, however, the versatile winger didn’t finish the full 90 minutes, coming off for Noni Madueke in the 71st minute.
Delighted with the result and his overall performance, Palmer took to Instagram to celebrate, to which Sancho promptly responded, simply saying “1%.”

Next up for Maresca’s side is a trip to bottom-placed Southampton on Wednesday (December 4) with the hectic festive period in full swing.
