Jadon Sancho sends message to Chelsea youngster as surprise image emerges
Chelsea star Jadon Sancho took to social media to send a message to wonderkid Tyrique George after a nearly decade-old picture of the two resurfaced.
The 24-year-old made the switch to Chelsea on transfer deadline day on an initial loan with obligation to buy after enduring a nightmare three-year spell at Man United.
He has since managed to recapture some form, providing three assists in his five Premier League games, helping Chelsea up to third after their opening 11 games.
Unfortunately, his momentum has been hampered in recent weeks, missing the last four games for Enzo Maresca’s side through injury and illness.
Chelsea star Jadon Sancho makes a young Tyrique George’s day
George, 18, made his senior debut for the club he’s been at since the age of eight in Chelsea’s 2-1 Europa Conference League defeat to Servette.
The youngster has since gone on to feature five times for the club, earning his first start in the comprehensive 8-0 win over FC Noah.
In an interview with Chelsea’s in-house media team regarding his debut, the image is brought up, and Sancho took to X, formally known as Twitter, to send a response.
George admitted he was a fan of Sancho before asking for the picture, so it’s quite a shock they’re now playing together nearly ten years later.
The latest product from Chelsea famed Cobham Academy, George will be hoping he doesn’t fall victim to the club’s never-ending search for ‘pure profit’.
Competition for places at Stamford Bridge is fierce, but Maresca has them performing well and once again contenders for Champions League qualification at the end of the season.
