Jadon Sancho sends message to Tyrique George after Chelsea breakthrough

Tyrique George has received a major reaction from his teammates on social media following Chelsea’s dominant 3-0 victory over Legia Warsaw in the UEFA Conference League.

Enzo Maresca‘s men made the trip to Poland to face a struggling Legia Warsaw side in the first-leg of the quarter-finals of the Conference League.

The first-half saw the visitors control proceedings with 61% possession, but were unable to make their pressure count before the break.

However, it was the awareness of George that broke the deadlock, with the youngster coming alive following Reece James‘ long-range shot being split back into the area for an easy tap-in.

Shortly after, Noni Madueke who came on at half-time for Cole Palmer, repaid his managers faith with a brace to almost put the tie out of sight for Legia Warsaw ahead of the second-leg.

Tyrique George scored his first senior goal for Chelsea in their 3-0 win over Legia Warsaw.

George will hope his goal is the first of many for Chelsea

In an Instagram post on Thursday night (10 April), George shared an image of himself celebrating his first senior goal for the club, with the youngster opting for a knee slide having put Chelsea one-nil up in the tie.

George shares an image of his celebration from a special night for the 19-year-old.

The England under-19 star received plenty of responses to his post and performance with fellow winger Jadon Sancho commenting: “Blessings!” alongside a praise emoji and Southampton star Tyler Dibling reacting with a love heart eyed emoji.

The post was also liked by teammates Marc Cucurella, Madueke and Tosin Adarabioyo who all featured last night for Maresca’s side.

Maresca should trust George more going forward

Football Insider Verdict

One of Maresca’s most prominent issues in recent weeks has been the form of his wingers.

Sancho’s inconsistency was highlighted further by injuries to Madueke and Nicolas Jackson, having gone 19 games in all competitions without registering a goal contribution before last night.

Couple this with the situation surrounding Mykhailo Mudryk it means the Italian’s options have been more limited in the last few months.

George will be hoping for more game time after his goal in the Conference League.

This forced Maresca to promote internally with George, who joined the Blues at the age of eight, being first in line to deputise.

If last night proved anything, it’s that George is ready to be be trusted with more minutes going forward, and could provide a more consistent option on the wing between now and the end of the season for Chelsea.
