Jaidon Anthony and Sander Berge respond to James Trafford’s Burnley message

James Trafford was in high spirits as he looked back on Burnley’s incredible season on social media.

Burnley will return to the Premier League next season alongside Leeds, with one of Sheffield United or Sunderland joining them via the play-offs, after sealing second place in the Championship.

They narrowly missed out on the title on goal difference, after Manor Solomon’s dramatic stoppage-time winner handed Daniel Farke’s side the edge on the final day of the campaign.

Still, Burnley finished on a remarkable 100 points, and one of the standout figures throughout their promotion push was Trafford.

The England youth international was outstanding between the sticks, keeping 29 clean sheets. The club equalled the all-time Football League record of 30, set by Port Vale in the 1953–54 season.

Now, Trafford has shared a video reliving some of his favourite moments from the season, capturing the highs of a campaign that saw Burnley bounce straight back to the top flight in style.

Newcastle and Chelsea in race to sign James Trafford after standout season

The English goalkeeper shared a season recap video on Instagram, showcasing a string of standout saves and moments celebrating Burnley’s automatic promotion.

He captioned the post simply: “24/25” and received plenty of praise from fellow professionals. Hannibal Mejbri commented “THE BEST!” while Jaidon Anthony added “the best ever” alongside a heart emoji.

Others, including CJ Egan-Riley and former teammate Sander Berge, also showed their appreciation by liking the post.

Trafford’s impact this season has not gone unnoticed, with Premier League clubs now circling.

Football Insider revealed that Newcastle United are preparing a move for Trafford as they seek a long-term successor to Nick Pope.

Concerns over Pope’s recent performances have prompted the Magpies to consider a changing of the guard, with former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Newcastle are open to offers for Pope this summer.

However, they’re not alone in the chase. Chelsea are also believed to be keeping tabs on Trafford’s situation, despite Newcastle appearing to have made the early running in negotiations.

Despite his exit, the veteran striker has made it clear he has no plans to retire just yet and Burnley could be his next destination.

Former Nottingham Forest forward Garry Birtles has encouraged Burnley to sign Vardy ahead of their Premier League return.

Whether Burnley decide to take the gamble remains to be seen, but with experience and leadership at a premium in the top flight, Vardy could be a shrewd addition.
