Jaidon Anthony outstanding, Josh Cullen rubbish – Burnley player ratings vs Millwall

Burnley ended their season in style with a 3-1 win over Millwall at Turf Moor to deny their opponents a place in the Championship play-offs, but missed out on the title.

Although they had already guaranteed automatic promotion back to the Premier League, the Clarets went into this game knowing they had to better Leeds United‘s result to win the Championship.

It was Millwall who went ahead through Mihailo Ivanovic after just 11 minutes, only for Josh Brownhill to equalise for the hosts moments later.

That ensured the sides went in level at 1-1 at half time, before Jaidon Anthony put Scott Parker’s side 2-1 up 20 minutes after the break.

A brilliant stoppage time free kick from Brownhill then rounded at a 3-1 victory, although Leeds’ win at Plymouth meant the Clarets missed out on the title on goal difference.

James Trafford – 7

Newcastle and Chelsea transfer target Trafford only really had two saves to make here, but made it really well. Otherwise wasn’t a lot for him to do.

Connor Roberts – 5

A relatively quiet performance on the right-hand side of the defence for the Clarets from the Welsh international.

CJ Egan-Riley – 6

Egan-Riley has been the subject of speculation after his good Burnley form, and produced a solid defensive showing here.

Maxime Esteve – 7

Crystal Palace and Everton are being linked with Esteve who helped his side stand firm as Millwall piled on some late pressure.

Lucas Pires – 6

Got forward on a number of occasions but was often found wanting when it came to producing an end product.

Marcus Edwards (off for Sarmiento, ’79) – 6

Some bright moments early on but his influence waned and he struggled to pose a major threat in the end.

A superb all action performance from the midfielder who really helped to push his side forward in the second half especially.

Very poor. An underwhelming performance in midfield, he struggled to really get involved in the game at all.

A good centre forward’s from the veteran who put himself about and caused plenty of problems for the Millwall defence.

Couldn’t get himself as involved Barnes had when he was on the pitch.

Off the bench for the last few minutes.
