Jamaal Lascelles ‘on borrowed time’ at Newcastle United after source’s transfer update – pundit
Jamaal Lascelles “is on borrowed time” at Newcastle United, according to Paul Robinson.
The ex-Spurs and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suspects Eddie Howe will continue to revamp his defence in the next transfer window.
The Magpies bolstered their back line with the additions of Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn and Matt Targett in the January window.

However, they missed out on the likes of Sevilla’s Diego Carlos and Lille’s Sven Botman.
A Newcastle source told Football Insider (23 March) that the club are keeping close tabs on Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.
When asked if a move for Kelly would have implications for captain Jamaal Lascelles, Robinson told Football Insider: “Lascelles is on borrowed time at Newcastle.
“The backline is something that has needed to be addressed there for a long time. That was one of the main reasons they were struggling at the bottom of the Premier League. Defensively, they were poor. The players quite simply weren’t good enough.
“There is talent in the Championship and there are gems to be had but I think Newcastle should be shopping Europe’s top leagues. Money is not a problem for them so why should in the Championship unless it’s for a phenomenal talent. Newcastle want to be competing for the best players in Europe.”

Lascelles has made 21 appearances for the Magpies this season.
His contract at St. James’ Park runs until the summer of 2024.
