Jamal Musiala to Man City: O’Rourke shares update on January transfer
Man City have no chance of completing a January deal for Jamal Musiala after fresh speculation, sources have told Football Insider.
The Times have claimed (28 December) Musiala is on the radar at the Etihad Stadium ahead of the new year.
However, it is believed Bayern Munich have no intention of allowing the 21-year-old to depart in the mid-season window.
The German giants are desperate to keep Musiala to aid their bid to regain the Bundesliga title and win the Champions League for the first time since 2020.
His contract at the Allianz Arena expires in June 2026 and talks over a renewal have stalled once again, giving City a glimmer of hope – but a January deal is not on the table.
The attacking midfielder has hit 14 goals and notched six assists across 22 appearances in all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign.
He is a regular starter for Vincent Kompany and also for Julian Nagelsmann for Germany on the international stage.
Man City have ‘no chance’ of signing Musiala in January
Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid are among the other top sides keen on a potential move for the 38-cap star.
He came through the ranks with the Blues before joining Bayern and played for England’s Under-21 side before switching allegiances to Germany.

Man City sit fifth in the Premier League table with their ageing squad faltering under Pep Guardiola so far in the 2024-25 campaign.
Musiala could prove to be a long-term replacement for Kevin de Bruyne or Bernardo Silva if he does complete a move to the Etihad Stadium in the near future.
