James Garner is the Everton star Thomas Tuchel is watching, he’s been ‘exceptional’
James Garner could be set for an England call-up following his “exceptional” performances for Everton this season.
That is according to former Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, who exclusively told Football Insider Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has also been “outstanding” for David Moyes’s side.
England manager Thomas Tuchel was in attendance to see the Toffees beat Fulham 2-1 on Saturday (7 February), with Dewsbury-Hall getting on the scoresheet at Craven Cottage.
The 27-year-old has been in impressive form since making the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium from Chelsea in a £28million deal last summer.
Meanwhile, Garner has also been a consistent performer for Everton, having started in all 26 of their Premier League matches this season.
Who did Thomas Tuchel have his ‘eye on’ alongside James Garner?
Tuchel has around six weeks to assess his options before naming his England squad for the games against Uruguay on 27 March and Japan on 31 March.
The Three Lions boss will also have an eye on who he will be taking to the World Cup this summer, with Dewsbury-Hall and Garner both hoping to be in the reckoning.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness discussed who Tuchel had his eye on during the weekend’s clash at Craven Cottage.
“I think James Garner has got to be the one that has been really consistent,” said Wyness.

“I also think he might have had an eye on Dewsbury-Hall. I know it’s a crowded space in the England squad, but those two have been outstanding performers and been consistent.”
How Everton stars could make England World Cup squad
Wyness insisted Garner has been the standout player for Everton after taking his game to another level this season.
“Dewsbury-Hall has come back from an injury, of course, but Garner in particular has been really exceptional,” said Wyness.
“I think that’s the one that he’s really come to have a look at. Those are the two Everton players that I think could be in his thinking for the summer coming up.

“I think if they finish with a good second half of the season, which they’re looking like they may well do, then they can well come into the reckoning.”
Everton suffered a 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth on Tuesday (10 February), but they still sit eighth in the Premier League table.
