James Maddison posts Tottenham comeback hint as fresh footage emerges

Tottenham star James Maddison shared footage of himself during his recovery in an update to supporters.

Maddison suffered an ACL injury in pre-season in August and is expected to spend many months on the sidelines.

It comes at an unfortunate time as Thomas Frank’s new-look Spurs side are thriving, as well as his chances of being in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad being reduced.

Still, he has continued to show his support from the stands as Maddison attended Tottenham’s win over Villarreal in the Champions League.

Now, as the team prepare to face Wolves on 27 September, the Englishman has shared more positive update as he continues his long road back.

James Maddison shares recovery footage after injury blow

Maddison posted on his Instagram story with a video of himself from the gym at the club’s training site, showing his current rehabilitation. He captioned his post with “Progress” as he continues to recover from his long-term injury.

It’s not the first time the midfielder has given the fans a glimpse of his recovery process, as Maddison was pictured with Dejan Kulusevski recently in the gym, with both players currently sidelined.

He played an important role for Ange Postecoglou last term, despite the side’s dreadful 17th-place finish in the league, contributing to 23 goals and assists.

Maddison was crucial in Spurs’ Europa League run, scoring in the semi-finals and providing two assists in the quarter-finals.

However, the midfielder picked up a knee injury before the end of the season, which kept him out of the final, and his injury woes only continued in the summer after his ACL injury.

James Maddison faces Tottenham competition amid Xavi Simons’ arrival

After Maddison was confirmed to be sidelined for a majority of the season, Tottenham decided to move for Xavi Simons in the summer to fill the void in creativity.

Maddison reportedly had a fall-out with Postecoglou last term, and while he is under a clean slate with Frank, his place in the team has been threatened with the arrival of the Dutchman.

Simons has already impressed Tottenham fans and has contributed to an assist while also deploying his versatility.

When Maddison does make his return, the challenge will not only be to recover from injury, but also to earn his spot in the squad again.
