James Maddison posts unhappy injury update amid Tottenham absence
Tottenham midfielder James Maddison has provided an update on his injury status which will not be especially pleasing for supporters.
Maddison was stretched off against Newcastle in pre-season and the 28-year-old looks set to miss the majority of the campaign with an ACL injury.
The injury left Thomas Frank devoid of options in the number 10 role with Dejan Kulusevski out until New Year for Tottenham .
RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons signed for Spurs to add to Frank’s options in the role, after they hijacked a move from Chelsea for the Dutch international.

Football Insider Verdict
Whilst Frank has added depth to his attacking options, the absence of Maddison leaves Spurs short of natural creative midfielders.
Maddison will be devastated by this latest injury blow, which will mean he will not be able to help Spurs in what could be an exciting season for the club under Frank.

Despite defeat against Bournemouth, Frank has made a positive start to life in north London especially with the eye-catching win over Man City.
Frank does need Simons to become Spurs’ new creative force amid Maddison’s injury and in his first Premier League campaign it will be interesting to see how the 22-year-old settles at the club.
Simons’ debut season could cumulate in Maddison not being able to get back into the side, and Kulusevski could also facing a challenge regaining a spot in the starting XI.
