Cristian Romero sends emotional message to Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham exit

Football Insider exclusively reported on 1 June that Ange Postecoglou would be sacked by Tottenham, and the club officially confirmed the news just days later, on 6 June.

Romero took to Instagram to post a heartfelt farewell to his former manager, writing:
“Ange, thank you for these two incredible seasons. You’re a fantastic coach, but above all, a great person who deserves the best.

“From day one you paved the way despite the many obstacles that always existed and always will exist. Beyond everything, we won a trophy and went down in the history of this beautiful club, which is the only thing that matters.

“I wish you the best because you deserve the best, and thank you for everything.”

His message was met with supportive reactions from several teammates, including James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Dominic Solanke, who all liked the post.

With Romero’s own future at Tottenham uncertain, he could follow Postecoglou out the door. Atletico Madrid remain strongly interested in signing Romero despite Spurs’ recent success.

He made just 26 appearances across all competitions this season, with injuries hampering any real run of form and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will entertain offers for the defender this summer.

Tottenham appoint Thomas Frank as new manager

Despite lifting silverware for the first time in 17 years, the club made the bold decision to part ways with Postecoglou and have wasted no time in naming his replacement.

On 12 June, Tottenham confirmed the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new head coach. Spurs reportedly paid £10million in compensation to Brentford to secure the Danish manager’s services, ending his successful seven-year spell with the Bees.

He led Brentford to Premier League promotion in the 2020/21 season and has since stabilised the club in the top flight, earning widespread praise for his tactics and steady leadership.

Tottenham supporters have responded positively to Frank’s appointment, with many hopeful that his exciting style of play can usher in a new and successful era in North London.
