James Maddison responds to Jamie Vardy’s message after Leicester latest

James Maddison has shown his backing for former Leicester City teammate Jamie Vardy with his recent activity on social media.

The striker helped the Foxes get off to the perfect start under new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy on Tuesday night (3rd December).

He scored with less than two minutes on the clock against West Ham, setting his side on the way to a 3-1 win over West Ham.

While that further heaped the pressure on Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui, it ensured Van Nistelrooy picked up a big win in his first game as Leicester manager.

Vardy took to Instagram after that game to celebrate the result, with Maddison responding by liking his former teammates post.

Football Insider Opinion

It should probably not be a huge surprise to see Maddison showing his support for Vardy and the Foxes here.

Leicester were of course the club who first gave the midfielder the chance to play in the Premier League when they signed him from Norwich in 2018.

He then went on to win an FA Cup with the club, and made over 200 appearances for them, scoring 50 goals before leaving for Tottenham last summer.

That gives the two parties a strong connection, so it makes sense that he wants them to do well.

Of course, Vardy was there throughout the whole of Maddison’s time with Leicester, and given their similarly outgoing personalities it makes sense that they would get on well.

The pair will surely also respect each others significant footballing talents, so you can understand why the Spurs man has been keen to show his support for his former teammate with this interaction.

In other news, a former Man United figure has given his thoughts on Ruud van Nistelrooy’s appointment as Leicester manager.
