James Maddison sends message to Totteham fans after fall-out
Tottenham ace James Maddison took to social media to wish fans a “Merry Christmas” despite appearing frustrated after being substituted by Ange Postecoglou in their 6-3 defeat to Liverpool.
The 28-year-old was caught rolling his eyes after Postecoglu brought him off in the 58th minute with the score at 4-1 against the Premier League leaders.
Speaking on co-commentary on Sky Sports after the attacker was withdrawn, Gary Neville noted: “He rolls his eyes James Maddison when he keeps getting hooked”.
Maddison scored Tottenham’s first goal with a precise finish from just outside the box, pulling one back for the home side before ultimately succumbing to Liverpool’s superior firepower.
The attacking midfielder has played a full 90 minutes just once this season, starting 18 of his 24 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals, and providing five assists in 1473 minutes of action.
Pressure building on Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglu as James Maddison shows frustration with role
Tottenham have been arguably the most inconsistent side in the Premier League so far this season, sitting in 11th with seven wins, two draws, and eight defeats from their 17 games.
Maddison was able to spend Christmas Day with his family, taking to Instagram to share an image of his young children, saying: “Merry Xmas everyone. Big love from my family to yours, each and every one of you.“

Postecoglu’s side travel to high-flying Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day (December 26) knowing a win could see them enter the top half of the Premier League table.
Spurs will then host Wolves at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium just three days later in their last fixture of the hectic festive period.
