James McAtee responds to Tom Davies’ Sheffield United post as Man City exit looms
James McAtee has responded to Tom Davies’ Sheffield United message amid the news that the 22-year-old could be leaving Manchester City.
The attacking midfielder enjoyed loan spells with Sheffield United during both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons before returning to the Etihad Stadium this term.
McAtee made 27 appearances for Man City this season, notching seven goals in 27 appearances across all competitions.
The England Under-21 international proved particularly important to City’s run to the FA Cup final, scoring three goals in four outings in the competition.

The Englishman’s last appearance for Pep Guardiola’s men came during their disappointing 0-0 draw with Southampton on 10 May.
Meanwhile, Davies took to Instagram [31 May] to share his thoughts after the South Yorkshire club failed to win promotion back to the Premier League: “Tough way to end but after reflecting we gave our all and just fell short, I’m proud to be a part of this team and we’ll be back next season.
“Would like to say a huge thank you for all the support you have gave us throughout the year!”
McAtee left a red heart emoji and a raised hands emoji in the comments section.
Football Insider have exclusively revealed that McAtee could be leaving Man City alongside Jack Grealish this summer.

McAtee should leave Man City to further his career
The England youth international has enjoyed a breakout season and scored one goal in five Champions League appearances for Guardiola’s side.

However, McAtee was only handed three Premier League starts by Man City, even though the North West giants have dropped below their usual standards.
Amid interest from Bayer Leverkusen, who tried to sign McAtee in January, the 22-year-old should be keen to leave the Etihad this summer in search of more game time.
Leverkusen could be an ideal destination for him, while Liverpool close in on Florian Wirtz, who plays in the same position as the 22-year-old and has regularly displayed his attacking ability in the Bundesliga this term.
Furthermore, McAtee could be envious of what fellow Man City academy graduate Cole Palmer has gone on to achieve since joining Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Liam Delap is set to join Chelsea and has played his best football since leaving the North West in favour of Ipswich Town.
