It was officially confirmed on 23 July that Young has joined Ipswich Town on a one-year deal. The defender shared the news himself on Instagram, posting the caption: “23 Not Out. Looking Forward To This Season.”
Plenty of his former teammates responded to the update, with Everton duo Branthwaite and Tarkowski among those who liked the post, along with Beto and Idrissa Gueye.
Other familiar faces from Young’s career joined in, with Manchester United’s Harry Maguire commenting “Love it” and John McGinn adding: “What a guy.”
The 40-year-old made 70 appearances for Everton across two seasons, largely featuring as a rotational option. During his time at Goodison Park, he scored twice and contributed four assists.
However, Football Insider revealed back in May that Moyes did not include Young in his plans for the 2025/26 season, and the club opted not to offer a new deal.
He has now racked up 750 club appearances since making his professional debut for Watford in 2003, and a career that will now continue into its 24th season.
