James Tavernier backed to transform Rangers career
Rangers right-back James Tavernier has been backed to transform his career after a difficult start to the season.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that the Rangers full-back will “rediscover” his form.
The 33-year-old has provided some underwhelming performances this season which has led to question marks over his future at Ibrox.
Tavernier has made 479 appearances for the Scottish giants since signing in 2015, scoring 126 goals and providing 132 assists in the process.
James Tavernier could still turn things around at Rangers
“I don’t think it’s got anything to do with his age, he’s just having a dip in form,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“The manager took him off in the last game after 65 minutes, so that shows where they’re at.
“He’s come under a little bit of criticism from the Rangers support as well; it doesn’t come through a lack of trying.
“Somebody like James Tavernier, the minimum requirement is maximum effort, and that’s the type of player that he is.

“He’ll be finding that as difficult as anybody, but it’s something that he will rediscover.
“When such an influential player both defensively and offensively isn’t firing as you would expect him to, it’s bound to have an effect on the rest of the team.”
