James Tavernier sends heartfelt message to fans after Hearts tragedy

James Taverner has sent a heartfelt message to Rangers supporters following their victory against Hearts on Sunday (16 February).

The Gers picked up three points after a 3-1 win at Tynecastle Stadium, but it was certainly a hard-earned victory.

Rangers had taken the lead via a Jamie McCart own goal, only for Michael Steinwender to equalise early in the first half.

However, a second own goal from McCart and a goal from Vaclav Cerny ensured Philippe Clement’s men took all three points.

The win kept the pressure on Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership, although their Old Firm rivals do boast a commanding 13-point gap at the moment.

Clement’s men were able to bounce back immediately from their embarrassing Scottish Cup exit against Queen’s Park last weekend.

James Tavernier reminds people life is bigger than football

Unfortunately, a Hearts supporter lost their life during the game on Sunday and Tavernier placed his focus on that situation after the game.

The Rangers captain took to Instagram to issue a statement, “Some things are more important than football.

“My thoughts are with the friends and family of the Hearts fan who sadly passed away at today’s game.”

He also had a strong performance defensively by making three clearances, five recoveries, and one interception.
