James Tavernier sends ‘special’ message to Rangers fans ahead of Celtic clash
Rangers captain James Tavernier commented on a “special” night at Ibrox after their 1-1 Europa League draw with Tottenham on Thursday (December 12).
The 33-year-old played the full 90 minutes against Ange Postecoglu’s side, providing the assist for Hamza Igamane’s 47th-minute opener.
Dejan Kulusevski equalized in the 79th minute for the Premier League side, ensuring the two clubs shared the spoils.
The result sent Rangers into the top eight, putting them in a position to potentially avoid a tricky play-off game if they can maintain their standing.
Rangers star James Tavernier fully focussed on Old Firm clash with Celtic
Tavernier has been key to Philippe Clement’s plans so far this season, starting 22 of his 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals, and providing six assists in 1960 minutes of action.
Rangers will face arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday (December 15), as the two sides battle for the season’s first piece of silverware.
The right-back took to Instagram after the draw with Tottenham, proud of the result but focused on the game on Sunday, he captioned the post: “European nights at Ibrox… Special. Proud of the lads tonight, felt we could’ve taken all 3 points in the end! Full focus on Sunday now, let’s go!”

Clement’s side have gone nine games across all competitions without losing and will no doubt be buoyed by a good result against former Celtic manager Postecoglu going into the game at Hampden Park.
Attention will return to the Scottish Premier League after the Old Firm derby with Rangers hosting Dundee FC on the 21st of December.
