James Trafford was among several Burnley players to react to Maxime Esteve’s latest post following a standout defensive campaign.
Burnley have enjoyed a remarkable few weeks, not only sealing promotion back to the Premier League but also equalling a long-standing Football League record for the most clean sheets in a single season.
Their dominant 5-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on 26 April saw them match Port Vale’s tally of 30 clean sheets from the 1953/54 season.
Although Burnley already secured promotion to the Premier League, the race for the Championship title remains wide open, with Burnley and Leeds both locked on 97 points heading into the final fixtures.
Meanwhile, Esteve marked a milestone with a message of gratitude on social media, celebrating the team’s defensive solidity and the role he’s played in their success this season after receiving an award for his displays.

Maxime Esteve rewarded with position in Championship team of the season
After a string of commanding performances in Burnley’s rock-solid backline, Esteve has been named in the Championship Team of the Season.
The French defender shared his gratitude with supporters and teammates on Instagram, writing: “I’m very honoured to have been named in the Championship Team of the Season! Thanks to all the lads without whom it wouldn’t have been possible, and thanks to everyone for your unstinting support!”
His post was met with plenty of praise from teammates, with Trafford responding with a heart emoji and CJ Egan-Riley commenting “Duo” in reference to their partnership.
Jaidon Anthony and former teammate Wilson Odobert also liked the post, showing their appreciation for his influence during a memorable campaign.
However, his impressive form has not gone unnoticed, with both Crystal Palace and Everton monitoring Esteve’s situation ahead of the summer window.

Despite promotion already secured, manager Scott Parker will be hoping to keep the squad focused as Burnley push for the Championship title – though interest in their defensive stars is only likely to intensify in the coming weeks.
