Jamie Carragher issues ‘desperate’ reaction to Mo Salah bombshell at Liverpool

Jamie Carragher is “desperate” for Liverpool and Mohamed Salah to reach a compromise on contract talks after the Anfield star dropped a bombshell about his status.

The Egyptian told reporters after the 3-2 victory at Southampton on 24 November that he was “more out than in” and hasn’t been offered a deal to stay, sending a shockwave through the fanbase.

He has been in outstanding form this season, contributing to 67% of Liverpool’s team goals which is more than any other player in the Premier League, alongside 10 goals and six assists in the league, and his brace in the weekend’s win helped extend the Reds lead to either points at the top of the Premier League, proving why Carragher wants a compromise to be reached.

The ex-Reds defender said on Sky Sports (25 November): “I think it’s pretty obvious the issue is what Mo Salah feels he’s worth, whether that’s in financial terms or length of contract, is completely different to what Liverpool feel at this moment.

“I just hope they meet somewhere in the middle at some stage between now and the end of the season because I’m desperate to see him in a Liverpool shirt next season.”

Carragher admitted age plays a factor, and has no issue with no contract being offered if the talks haven’t reached that stage if it is only going to be rejected.

But while he wants the man he believes is the Reds’ greatest ever player to remain, he knows an exit is inevitable within a couple of years either way.

Liverpool need new Mohamed Salah deal for form under Arne Slot

Football Insider Opinion

The 32-year-old has been a consistent performer for Liverpool since joining from Roma in 2017, scoring over 15 goals in every Premier League season since playing for the Kop.

Additionally, he has recorded at least 10 assists in all but two of those seasons, showcasing his all-around contribution to the team’s attacking play.

Salah’s impact at Liverpool goes beyond individual statistics; he has been a key figure in the club’s success, helping them win the Premier League, Champions League, and Carabao Cup.

Liverpool
Mo Salah’s Liverpool form is a big reason why Arne Slot has his side top of the table.

His consistency, work ethic, and ability to deliver in crucial moments make him one of the best players in the Premier League, and the Reds must ensure they retain his services for the long-term future.

The forward’s presence in the squad is irreplaceable, and keeping him at Liverpool should be a top priority for the club as they continue to challenge for domestic and European titles.
