Jamie Carragher responds to Mohamed Salah’s latest social media post ahead of Inter Milan vs Liverpool

Jamie Carragher has been openly critical of Mohamed Salah after the Liverpool star’s explosive interview on Saturday.

Even Wayne Rooney has weighed in on the conversation, with many feeling that the legend is tarnishing his Anfield status after suggesting that he has been “thrown under the bus” for the team’s current form.

Arne Slot, unsurprisingly, has disagreed with the winger’s sentiment, while also respecting his opinion, but his stance on the entire situation could not be clearer after Salah was left out of the squad to face Inter Milan.

Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa are also missing due to injuries ahead of the Champions League tie on Tuesday, 9 December, and the Egyptian clearly felt that he should have been back in the squad.

Jamie Carragher hits out after Mohamed Salah’s post

Salah took to social media after being left at the Liverpool training centre, and while there was no caption, supporters felt that this was a direct message to the club.

In response, Carragher took to X (9 December), writing: “I’m not sure I’ve wanted Liverpool to win a game more than tonight for a long time! Come you mighty,” with red circle and fingers crossed emojis.

The fallout comes after Salah was left on the bench for three consecutive games against West Ham, Sunderland, and Leeds United, from which the Reds only got four points.

Salah could have just a few games left as a Liverpool player

It is not long until the 33-year-old jets out to Africa for AFCON, and may not even feature against Brighton on Saturday, 13 December, following his emotional outburst to the press.

With AFCON finishing on Sunday, 18 January, he will return to Merseyside with plenty of time before the transfer window slams shut, and there are rumours of a move away next month.

Salah has long been linked with the Saudi Pro League, and with a divide emerging at Anfield due to the situation, the hierarchy could cash in on the winger.

While there will be some in the dressing room who agree with the player’s comments, Carragher is clearly against them, making his feelings known on social media and live on air.

It is difficult to see how Salah can turn things around at Anfield now, but with a public apology, anything is possible. Emotions are high with everything that has happened on Merseyside recently.
