Jamie Carragher: I have changed my mind about this Tottenham player

By Amir Mir

Jamie Carragher has stated on Twitter that he has changed his mind and Dele Alli can be the “man” to guide Tottenham to the Premier League title this season.

England international Alli scored a brace against Chelsea on Wednesday evening to help his side secure a much-needed three points against the Premier League leaders.

Spurs are currently seven points behind Antonio Conte’s side in the league table as they are searching for their first English crown in over 50 years.

Mauricio Pochettinio has assembled a talented young squad at White Hart Lane that finished in third position last term.

As the north London club bid to win the league title under the Argentine, former Liverpool player Carragher revealed his changed stance about Tottenham’s title chances as a result of Alli’s stunning form.

Carragher had claimed during Sky Sports punditry duty on Sunday that Spurs did not have a gamechanger in the mould of Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard.

“On Sunday I said Spurs maybe lacked a top class player like Hazard to win the league, could Deli Alli be that man?” Carragher wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Hazard has lifted one Premier League title during his time with the Blues under the management of former boss Jose Mourinho in 2014/15.

During that campaign, the Belgian scored 14 goals and supplied ten assists in 38 league games as he also went on to clinch the PFA Player of the Year award.

By contrast, Alli has this season, scored an impressive ten goals in 19 league games, including providing two assists.

In recent weeks, the former MK Dons player has found the back of the net on six occasions in his last three games.
