Redknapp delivers verdict on Tottenham title bid, names three PL contenders

By Dominic Toner

Jamie Redknapp believes that Tottenham are one of the three main title contenders alongside Liverpool and Manchester City.

Spurs are the only unbeaten side in the Premier League this campaign and recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory against league leaders City on Sunday.

The north London side earned a third-placed finish last season and have strengthened their squad over the summer.

Mauricio Pochettino has built a side that look set to challenge for the title and they defeated Man City without the likes of Harry Kane and Mousa Dembele.

Pundit Redknapp thinks that Spurs are one of the potential league winners this season and have made a fantastic start.

“Tottenham, Liverpool and City are the three best teams in the League,” the former Spurs midfielder told the Mail. “We’ll find a winner from those. There is such a long way to but this had been a dream start for Spurs.

“Don’t underestimate what that does for their beliefs. They comfortably beat the tram that everyone thought were going to walk away with the title.”

Spurs have conceded just three goals from their opening seven league games and have the best defensive record in the league.

Summer recruit Victor Wanyama delivered a man of the match performance against Man City and highlighted the strength of the squad.

Spurs will be bolstered by the return of star striker Kane in the near future after he fully recovers from an ankle injury.

Pochettino’s side face visits to West Brom and Bournemouth in their next league encounters and will hope to continue the unbeaten start.

In other Tottenham news, Ian Wright has shared what was uncomfortable about the club’s win against Man City.
