Jamie Redknapp wowed by ‘amazing’ Man City signing who is ‘different’ to Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City ground out a professional win over Brentford, winning 1-0 at the GTech Community Stadium.

Manchester City beat Brentford comprehensively to go third in the Premier League table behind Arsenal and Liverpool.

Rodri went off injured for Man City with what appeared to be a leg injury, being replaced by Nico Gonzalez in the first half.

Jamie Redknapp impressed by Tijjani Reijnders in Man City’s win over Brentford

Erling Haaland gave Man City the lead, and it could have been 3-0 had Tijjani Reijnders taken his two first-half chances.

Reijnders had another impressive performance against Brentford, and he stole the plaudits of Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports.

Redknapp said: “When I watched Reijnders in the first game against Wolves, I was taken aback by how good he looks, how comfortable he looks.

“This league catches you by surprise, it’s tough and it’s physical, but he always finds time on the ball. He has been a really good addition to the club.

“Sometimes they’ve spent really big on the superstars, and you’ve thought maybe they were the only ones who could get them.

“He’s one who other clubs maybe looked at and weren’t quite sure, but he looks like a really good bit of recruitment.”

Jamie Redknapp draws comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne

Redknapp didn’t stop the applause for Reijnders there, comparing the Dutchman to Man City legend Kevin De Bruyne.

Redknapp added: “He [Reijnders] gives them [Man City] a completely different dimension, and I’m not comparing him to Kevin De Bruyne because he’s always been my favourite and always will be.

“But he’s a different type of player, the way he covers ground, the way he runs with the ball, he’s so graceful.

“He doesn’t always spot those eye-catching passes that Kevin did, but there are some really amazing things that he does.”

Reijnders will surely appreciate the praise from Redknapp, but will know he has a long way to go before cementing himself alongside De Bruyne in Man City folklore.
