Jarell Quansah sends message to Liverpool fans after latest omission
Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah took to social media to send a message to the fans after making his 50th appearance in their 2-2 Premier League draw with Aston Villa on Wednesday (February 19).
The 21-year-old was omitted from the starting XI but came on for the last minute, replacing fellow academy product Conor Bradley after his injury, as Arne Slot’s side dropped two valuable points against Aston Villa in the race for the Premier League title.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 29th minute before Youri Tielemans bagged the equaliser in the 38th with a fine volley after some pinball in the Liverpool box.
Ollie Watkins gave the home side the lead just before the break but Trent Alexander-Arnold had other ideas, restoring parity and ending the game 2-2.
For the second Liverpool fixture in a row, there was a considerable amount of controversy surrounding the result.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official Keith Hackett believes Axel Disasi was lucky not to see red after appearing to lash out at Alexis Mac Allister.
Mac Allister wasn’t without blame, however, committing a “clear holding offence” for which Hackett slammed referee Craig Pawson.
Jarell Quansah thankful for latest Liverpool ‘honour’ as title race heats up
Quansah is yet to establish himself as a regular at Liverpool, starting ten of his 17 games across all competitions and struggling to match the consistent excellence of his debut campaign.
The centre-back took to Instagram after the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa to commemorate the occasion, saying: “An honour to make my 50th appearance for Liverpool. Looking foward to hopefully many more.”

Arsenal have the golden opportunity to reduce the points deficit to just five should they beat Graham Potter’s West Ham on Saturday (February 22).
Slot’s side will take on current champions Man City on Sunday (February 23) in what is likely to be a crucial game for both clubs.
