Jarrad Branthwaite, McNeil react to Youssef Chermiti amid Everton exit rumours

Jarrad Branthwaite and Dwight McNeil reacted to Youssef Chermiti’s latest update away from Everton this summer.

David Moyes has some tough transfer decisions to make ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with The Friedkin Group bringing in much more funds than during Farhad Moshiri‘s torrid reign.

Many supporters are wondering what should happen to the 21-year-old forward, with AfricaFoot (21 June) reporting that a move to Stoke City could happen quickly, though sources have reportedly been baffled by this [Liverpool Echo].

The forward’s game time has been extremely limited over the last few seasons, making just 24 senior appearances since joining from Sporting CP in 2023, with injuries playing a huge role in his downfall.

Some have suggested cutting their losses with the player, who has struggled to register a single first-team goal on Merseyside, but it remains to be seen what the plan is for his development.

Football Insider verdict

It feels as though Moyes never left Merseyside all those years ago, with the feel-good factor well and truly before a historic move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Friedkin Group are unlikely to splash the cash in their first year in the Premier League, though Football Insider understands that Everton could have £70million to spend this summer.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Idrissa Gueye, and Branthwaite continue to be linked with exits, and that was always going to be the case given the current state of contracts on Merseyside.

Everton have also emerged in the race for Hamza Igamane, though according to Mick Brown, Rangers are hell-bent on keeping the talented, young striker at Ibrox for another season.

Given the circumstances, supporters are allowed to get a little excited about the potential moves this summer, but it is important that they do not get too ahead of themselves.

The Toffees moved far away from the relegation zone last season, once Moyes took over from Sean Dyche, but there will still be plenty of areas to improve ahead of next season.
