Jayden Bogle sublime, Jack Harrison dismal – Leeds ratings in draw v Man United
Jayden Bogle put in a strong showing as Leeds drew with rivals Man United in a pre-season friendly in Sweden.
The Whites dominated the opening proceedings of their game against the Red Devils, with Ruben Amorim‘s side barely seeing any of the ball.
However, Daniel Farke‘s team failed to make the most of their control of the game, allowing United to find their feet.
As the match went on, Leeds sank back into their own half, and had Illan Meslier to thank for a wonderful save late on.

Leeds claim draw against Man United in Sweden
Karl Darlow (off for Meslier 46) – 7
The Welshman started in place of the seemingly outbound Meslier and was calm in possession.
Jayden Bogle (off for Chambers 78′) – 9 – Player of the Match
Lively. The fullback was a key driving force offensively for his side and had little issue dealing with Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha.
Joe Rodon (off for Bornauw 46′) – 7
Tough. Took a knock in the second minute of the game but powered through and effectively shut down United’s attacking threat.
Jaka Bijol (off for Struijk) – 7
Bijol was making his debut after a summer move from Udinese and the Slovenian centre-half already looks like a good acquisition.

Ilia Gruev runs the show for Leeds
Sam Byram (off for Gudmundsson 46′) – 6
Had the difficult task of dealing with Bruno Fernandes and Amad, but despite a few shaky moments, the left-back did the job that was required of him.
Ethan Ampadu (off for Longstaff 46′) – 4
Struggled to get going against the Red Devils and misplaced several passes.
Ilia Gruev – 8
Very tidy. Sean Longstaff has joined from Newcastle but on today’s showing, he will be a partner, rather than a replacement for Gruev.
Wilfried Gnonto (off for James 46′) – 6
Good link-up play with Bogle and gave United plenty of issues, but lacked the cutting edge to make a real impact.

Lukas Nmecha impresses in Leeds debut
Ao Tanaka (off for Gray 78′) – 7
Tidy as always. If there is any player who will have no issues transferring their form from last season into next, it is the lively Japanese midfielder. Put in a good performance against United.
Jack Harrison (off for Ramazani 46′) – 2
Awful. Making his first appearance for Leeds since 2023, Harrison was off the pace and completely ineffective in possession.
Lukas Nmecha (off for Piroe 46′) – 6
Nmecha joined from Wolfsburg this summer, and the striker had a few nice touches, and his big frame and hold-up play helped the German to bring Leeds’ attackers into play.
Substitutes
Pascal Struijk (on for Bijol 46′) – 7
Slotted in nicely at half-time and maintained Leeds’ structured and solid backline.
Sebastiaan Bornauw (on for Rodon 46′) – 6
Bornauw looked really good in his first appearance for the Whites. Strong tackler and stayed alert to the movement from United’s attackers.
Largie Ramazani (on for Harrison 46′) – 5
Wasteful. The Belgian consistently found shooting opportunities, which is a plus, but the 24-year-old should have scored.

Sean Longstaff puts in tidy display for Leeds
Daniel James (on for Gnonto 46′) – 5
Against his former side, the Welshman looked desperate to make something happen, but Patrick Dorgu dominated the battle down Leeds’ right-hand side.
Joel Piroe (on for Nmecha 46′, off for Chadwick 89′) – 4
Found it difficult to get on the ball and the Dutchman lacked the presence that Nmecha offered.
Sean Longstaff (on for Ampadu 46′) – 7
Neat passing and the former Newcastle man helped recycle possession well.
Gabriel Gudmundsson (on for Byram 46′) – 6
Busy defensively and showed a willingness to put himself about in a bid to impress his new boss.
Illan Meslier (on for Darlow 46′) – 7
Meslier showed some brilliant reflexes with a stunning late save to stop United from claiming a winner.
Sam Chambers (on for Bogle 78′) – 5
Almost gave away a penalty just two minutes after his introduction, looked uncomfortable at right-back.
Harry Gray (on for Tanaka 78′) –
The latest Gray to play for Leeds. The young forwards’ introduction caused a buzz around the stadium with supporters very keen to see what the 16-year-old could do.
Rhys Chadwick (on for Piroe 89′) – N/A
Did not have enough time to make a real impact for Leeds.
