Jeff Bezos & Elon Musk to invest in Man United? Keith Wyness shares ‘huge’ news
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos will avoid investing in Man United as they are a “PR disaster”.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the billionaire duo would need to be given a “unique edge” to be persuaded to buy into the Red Devils.
According to The Athletic (24 December), United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe raised the prospect of Musk or Bezos – the two richest men in the world – providing funds to help pay for the a stadium before purchasing his shares in United earlier this year.
A club task force has initially concluded the best option would be the creation of a new stadium for the Red Devils, boasting a capacity of up to 100,000.
The proposed development is expected to cost more than £2billion and take six years to complete.
Ratcliffe has already seen calls for government funding for the project turned down and these new reports suggest thought has gone into approaching other sources for help.
Musk and Bezos will reject involvement at Man United, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Elon Musk has his Boring Company, is there some link there?
“Is there some link for Bezos and Amazon with United?
“I don’t think there is, all I can see is a look at simple financing for any new stadium. I don’t see either of them doing that, unless there is an added advantage which would give them a unique edge.
“I don’t think they’d be attracted to United right now.
“Their advisers, scratching the surface, would say ‘Hang on, we’d be getting attached to a PR disaster.’

“These two have got access to huge sums, but I think these stories are wide of the mark.
“I can’t see it happening unless there’s something else I’m not seeing besides the cash.”
In other news, United could be about to agree “surprise” striker signing.
