Jeff Stelling makes Liverpool and Andy Robertson exit claim

Andy Robertson is facing an uncertain future with Liverpool as he moves into the final year of his contract.

The Scotland international helped the Merseyside giants win the Premier League title last season, making 33 top-flight appearances.

However, Liverpool remain interested in Milos Kerkez, whose arrival would put Robertson’s spot in Arne Slot’s starting 11 at risk.

Fellow left-back Kerkez enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 campaign, scoring two goals and creating five assists in 38 Premier League outings.

Robertson tipped to want move from Liverpool to Atletico Madrid

The 31-year-old has helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, two Carabao Cups, and the FA Cup since joining from Hull City in 2017.

According to Sky Sports [15 June], La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have identified Robertson as a transfer target.

Meanwhile, playing a game of ‘transfer Tinder’ live on talkSPORT [16 June], Jeff Stelling said: “(Robertson has) been a great servant for Liverpool for the last eight years, they’re clearly looking to the future ultimately to replace him. Atletico have done this before.

“They took Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea when he was 33, and they’ve had a couple of great years out of him. For me, Andy Robertson from his point of view, I’d definitely swipe right (say yes).”

Robertson exit could hand Kostas Tsimikas reprieve

Liverpool’s interest in Kerkez indicates that Slot is willing to part company with Kostas Tsimikas this summer, as the presence of both the Bournemouth man and Robertson would leave the Greece international with too much competition to contend with.

However, if the Reds sell Robertson to Atletico Madrid this summer, the Merseyside club may then decide to keep the former Olympiacos man at Anfield ahead of next season.

Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Leeds can sign Tsimikas for £15million this summer, which would help Daniel Farke’s men in their quest to seal Premier League survival.

But if Robertson joins Atletico, Tsimikas would then likely serve as Kerkez’s back-up option, and the Bournemouth man should now be seen as an upgrade on the Scotland international.

The fact that Kerkez made seven goal contributions for a Cherries outfit who finished ninth in the Premier League last campaign shows that he could be a real creative asset for next season’s defending champions, Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Ian Darke has tipped Harvey Elliott to leave Anfield in a Liverpool News 247 exclusive.
