Former Hearts manager Jim Jefferies thinks Steven Naismith and Kyle Lafferty will be desperate to go out and prove a point to the Rangers fans when they return to Ibrox on Saturday to face the Gers.
The former Ibrox duo joined Hearts earlier this season and Jefferies believes their big game experience means returning to their old club “won’t bother them one bit.”
Lafferty played in both the Jambos’ games this season against the Gers – scoring in the 3-1 win for Graeme Murty’s side at Murrayfield in October.
Jefferies admitted he thought Naismith would rejoin the Gers after falling out of favour at Norwich City before completing his surprise move to Hearts last month.
“Naismith and Lafferty have played in plenty of big games,” Jefferies said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“Going back to Ibrox won’t bother them one bit.
“If anything it will make the pair of them even more determined to go out there and remind the Rangers fans how good they are.
“There was a lot of talk about Rangers going back in for Naismith before he signed for Hearts last month.
“Most people, myself included, thought if they had gone back in for him that’s where he would have ended up. But since then he has come out and said that Rangers never made him an offer and Hearts did.
“I think he will relish going back there this weekend. They both will.”
Naismith hasn’t been back at Ibrox since controversially ripping up his contract in 2012 following Charles Green’s formation of a new company.
The striker has yet to score for Craig Levein’s side and would love to put a dent in the Gers’ title hopes with a goal at Ibrox.
A win for the Ibrox giants would see them close to six points of Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic ahead of their trip to Pittodrie on Sunday to face Aberdeen.
The Old Firm rivals meet on March 11th with Murty’s side closing in Brendan Rodgers’ side.
