Jeffrey Schlupp, Adam Idah react to Kasper Schmeichel’s ‘finishing’ Celtic message
Kasper Schmeichel caught the attention of his teammates on social media as Celtic prepare to face St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
The Hoops are set for their final league clash of the 2024/25 campaign, welcoming Stephen Robinson’s side to Celtic Park on Saturday, 17 May, hoping to extend the gap at the top of the table.
Barry Ferguson’s Rangers side are currently 17 points adrift of first place, and if they are unable to beat Hibernian on the final day, the club could finish 20 points behind while their rivals lift their 56th league title.
Brendan Rodgers, who has been linked with Chelsea, will likely be far more focused on the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park on Saturday, 24 May, and Schmeichel will hope to be back in the starting lineup.

Taking to Instagram (16 May), Schmeichel wrote: “Full focus and looking forward to tomorrow,” gaining likes from Celtic trio Anthony Ralston, Idah and Schlupp.
The goalkeeper watched from the bench during the 5-1 win over Aberdeen, and having suffered an injury which kept him sidelined for two months, Viljami Sinisalo has been given more of a chance.
Brendan Rodgers to end 2024/25 campaign with more silverware
Football Insider verdict
Ally McCoist suggested to Football Insider that Rodgers could seek a Celtic exit this summer, mainly due to the lack of competition from their Old Firm rivals, Rangers.
With a takeover expected to be completed at Ibrox this summer, however, there could be a new challenge to keep the Northern Irishman interested in sticking around for the 2025/26 campaign.
The boardroom at Celtic Park will need to keep him happy, though, with the 52-year-old speaking out about his frustrations in the previous two transfer windows, especially after the departure of Kyogo Furuhashi.

2. Rangers | 74 |
While domestic trophies are always welcome for the Hoops, ambitions in the Champions League are always growing for Rodgers, and this season proved exactly why.
The Hoops were just minutes from pushing Bayern Munich to extra time in the round of 32, crushed by an Alphonso Davies goal four minutes into added time, but similar can be achieved next term.
It remains to be seen whether Schmeichel will still be the first-choice shot-stopper at Celtic Park next season, but he is certainly ready for the final two matches of the campaign.
