Jeffrey Schlupp and Joe Ledley respond to exit announcement at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace’s latest exit announcement gained the attention of past and present players, including Jeffrey Schlupp and Joe Ledley.

Oliver Glasner has completely turned his fortunes around at Palace, with the team currently sitting 12th in the Premier League table despite an incredibly difficult start to the campaign.

Now, the Eagles have booked their spot in the FA Cup final, set to take on Man City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 17 May, but attention has also turned to the summer transfer window.

Football Insider understands that Liverpool could have a cut-price bid accepted for Marc Guehi, with Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta, and Adam Wharton also linked with exits.

However, one Selhurst Park exit has already been confirmed before the end of the 2024/25 campaign, with Joel Ward set to end his 13-year stay with the Eagles after arriving from Portsmouth in 2012.

Joel Ward set to leave Crystal Palace

Taking to Instagram (13 May), the official club account wrote: “13 special years. A true Palace hero. Joel Ward will depart Crystal Palace this summer, upon the expiration of his current contract.

“Thank you for everything, Wardy,” an announcement which earned a like from Christian Benteke and Wayne Routledge, while Schlupp and Ledley responded with praise and eagle emojis in the comments.

Oliver Glasner could also depart Selhurst Park

Football Insider verdict

Changes on the pitch might not be the only major differences ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Glasner could quit Palace to join Tottenham.

The manager is also heavily linked with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, and considering how well he has turned things around in South London, it is really no surprise that major clubs want his signature.

Beating Pep Guardiola‘s City team to the FA Cup title could certainly help keep the big names at Selhurst Park ahead of next season, but there are certainly no guarantees for a mid-table Premier League team.

Of course, with the FA Cup clash and league matches against Wolves and Liverpool remaining, those on the pitch will only be focusing on the tasks ahead of them rather than the summer transfer window.

Staff behind the scenes, however, will have one eye firmly on the transfer market before the window swings open at the end of the season, especially with the high-profile exits being tipped at Selhurst Park.
