Jermaine Jenas has hailed Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen after his performance in the win over Arsenal.

Spurs managed to record a 2-0 victory over their north London rivals in the Premier League and are still four points adrift of leaders Chelsea in the title race.

Dele Alli and Harry Kane were the familiar goalscorers for the home side, who managed to blitz the visitors with a quick-fire double in the second-half.

Jenas was quick to praise Vertonghen for his efforts and feels he was brilliant against the Gunners.

“Jan Vertonghen mate, you were sensational today,” Jenas wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Spurs kept up their hopes of a first Premier League title and have four games remaining to catch Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side managed to keep another clean sheet against Arsenal and have the best defensive record in the division, conceding just 22 goals in 34 league games.

Vertonghen has played a crucial role in that success and is an automatic pick in the starting XI.

The centre-back has a formidable partnership alongside teammate Toby Alderweireld, while Spurs are blessed with several talented options in the full-back positions.

Vertonghen has become an integral player for Spurs and has now racked up 199 appearances for them, but is quite often overshadowed by Alderweireld.

In other Tottenham news, Frank Lampard believes that Harry Kane is a self-made talent.
