‘Jesper Lindstrom’s fate sealed at Everton after major David Moyes update’

Everton will likely have already decided on Jesper Lindstrom’s future after David Moyes’ latest update on the loanee.

The 25-year-old winger has been a disappointment since making the temporary move from Napoli last summer, failing to hit the back of the net in any domestic competitions.

Sean Dyche had, fairly, been blamed for a lot of Everton’s failings this season, with relegation on the cards before Moyes was appointed by The Friedkin Group in January.

Due to that, many supporters had given Lindstrom a second chance to prove himself under new leadership, and while he notched an assist against Wolves, he has still not convinced enough for a permanent deal.

Jesper Lindstrom fails to win over Everton supporters

With Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil both returning from injury for Everton, and Jack Harrison actually making an impact against Arsenal, the Toffees’ attack looks to be taking shape again.

That will be a cause for concern for Lindstrom, who has talked openly about his struggles in England but wants to better himself and potentially earn a move this summer, yet those hopes have taken a huge hit to the point of likely being over.

Moyes might have just confirmed that the Denmark international has played his final ever game on Merseyside following the player’s absence against Liverpool and Arsenal recently.

It was already known that he was suffering from an injury, but with Moyes now telling the media that Lindstrom has undergone a hernia operation and is likely sidelined until the end of the season fans have probably seen the last of the Dane in a Toffees shirt.

David Moyes must be far more ambitious ahead of summer transfer window

With The Friedkin Group’s takeover at Everton likely meaning an influx of cash this summer, relative to recent windows at least, Moyes needs to think outside the box with some of his transfers once Premier League safety is secured.

The winger has been nowhere near good enough to match the Blues’ level, even with them fighting relegation for much of the campaign, and Mick Brown told Football Insider that Everton had already started looking for a Lindstrom alternative.

The winger has massively underwhelmed at Goodison Park.

While Beto has shown a lot more promise since Moyes’ arrival, a 20-goal striker is an absolute must this summer, and so too is keeping Jarrad Branthwaite at Everton despite plenty of European interest.

Lindstrom is likely to just be one of multiple players to suffer from a new era beginning on Merseyside, and had he actually impressed in front of goal this season, the outcome could have been very different.

However, with the player now picking up a season-ending injury, those opportunities have completely run out, and his future already looks to be sealed ahead of the summer transfer window.
