Jesse Lingard: Pundit '100% sure' on Man United lifeline as Erik ten Hag plan reported
Jesse Lingard must move on from Man United even if he is offered an Old Trafford lifeline by Erik ten Hag, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed things have gone “stale” for the 29-year-old at his boyhood club.
According to The Sun (1 May), Ten Hag is preparing to give Lingard a lifeline as he plans make-or-break talks with the midfielder when he takes up the Man United hot seat this summer.
The England ace, who has started just two Premier League games this term, is out of contract this summer.
Whelan claimed Lingard will have “plenty of offers” this summer if he decides to walk away from Man United.
“I think there are a lot of players who need to move away from Man United and Jesse Lingard is one of them,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“He’s been at the club too long, and they’ve not got the best out of him for a while now.
“Say he patches things up with Ten Hag coming in, signs a contract – he could find himself in an identical predicament six months down the line, sitting on the sidelines.
“West Ham got the best out of him in a new environment, playing week-in, week-out. Sometimes you can get a little bit stale at one club, and I think that’s definitely the case here.
“As big a club as Man United are, he needs a fresh new challenge – 100%. I’m sure he’ll have plenty of offers.”
Lingard scored nine goals and registered five assists during a five-month loan spell at West Ham last season.
He has netted 35 goals in 232 games across an eight-year spell at Man United.
