Jhon Duran ‘not serious’ – New Aston Villa transfer development sparks outrage
Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has been criticised for being “not serious about football” as he looks set for a move to Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr, according to Simon Jordan.
The Colombian international is set for a medical on Thursday before a proposed move to Al Nassr after a €77 million (£64m) fee was agreed in principle [David Ornstein on X].
Football Insider previously revealed in November that Duran was open to leaving in search of more game time, as he remains behind Ollie Watkins in the pecking order.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan and co-host Jim White discussed the potential transfer, with Jordan heavily criticising the 21-year-old’s ambition.
After receiving details of the proposed move, White began by saying: “You’re shaking your head, Simon…”
Jordan responded: “He’s not a serious footballer, is he? He’s 21 years of age at the beginning of his career with all the world in front of him. Playing in the best league for a big football club, and he wants to go and play Saudi. He’s not a serious footballer.
“John Duran is a young 21-year-old Colombian international footballer with a real talent”.
He continued, “This is not a football move. It’s a money move. Just call it for what it is.”

Football Insider Verdict
The Colombian striker has enjoyed a strong season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions, including three in the Champions League. He has delivered standout moments against teams like RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.
However, despite his impressive goal tally, Duran has struggled for consistent starts under Unai Emery, making just four Premier League starts this season.

Despite limited game time and growing speculation over his future, many Villa fans are unhappy with the idea of him moving to Saudi Arabia so early in his career, calling it a “waste.”
This sentiment was echoed by Jordan, who questioned whether a 21-year-old should be making such a move, especially given his potential to develop further.
If Arsenal’s interest in Ollie Watkins leads to a transfer, a starting striker spot at Villa could open up—something Duran might have capitalised on had he stayed if a move goes through.
