Joao Palhinha: Major update on Liverpool and Bayern Munich race after new twist – Sources
Bayern Munich remain alongside the likes of Liverpool in the race for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, sources have told Football Insider.
The German giants are still keen to land the 28-year-old despite the imminent departure of Thomas Tuchel.
It is believed Tuchel is a big fan of Palhinha and was a major driving force behind their push to land him last summer (2023) – which was eventually blocked by Fulham on deadline day.
But the ex-Chelsea boss revealed his decision to quit Bayern earlier this week in a dramatic new twist following their poor recent form.
Nevertheless, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Portugal international remains on their shortlist and they could swoop for him if he is available for the right price.
It is believed club chiefs in the corridors of power at Bayern are “big admirers” of Palhinha.
The Bundesliga champions, who trail Bayer Leverkusen in this season’s title race, will go head-to-head with long-term admirers like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and other Premier League sides for his signature.
Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan has recently confirmed the club will “have to consider” sensible offers for Palhinha and admitted there is a “huge market” for their star midfielder.

He has made 28 appearances across all competitions this season, notching three goals and one assist.
Khan’s admission comes despite him signing a fresh five-year contract in September 2023, with Fulham holding the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.
