Joao Pedro and Reece James respond to Liam Delap’s ‘first’ Chelsea message

Liam Delap caught the attention of his Chelsea teammates as the striker took to social media with a message for the fanbase.

The former Ipswich Town striker has enjoyed an opening few weeks with the Blues, helping them to lift the Club World Cup title in America, even notching his first two goal contributions.

His arrival has handed Enzo Maresca a huge headache ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with Football Insider understanding that Nicolas Jackson is “unhappy” at Stamford Bridge and is weighing up his future.

Maresca has a multitude of attacking talents at his disposal this summer, even with Christopher Nkunku and Raheem Sterling likely departing for new clubs on a permanent basis.

With 12 goals and two assists for the Tractor Boys last season, it is no surprise to see the 22-year-old settle in well with the reigning Europa Conference League champions, and he is clearly loving life.

Liam Delap celebrates first title with Chelsea

Taking to Instagram, Delap shared a compilation of his career with Chelsea so far, writing: “First month in blue,” with blue heart and trophy emojis, gaining plenty of attention online.

Both Reece James and Joao Pedro liked the post, joined by Trevoh Chalobah and former teammate Omari Hutchinson, a player who Everton, RB Leipzig, and Borussia Dortmund are interested in, Football Insider understands.

Enzo Maresca expected to achieve more success

Football Insider verdict

Unsurprisingly, supporters back at Stamford Bridge are expecting a huge 2025/26 campaign from their team, especially after beating the reigning Champions League winners in the Club World Cup final.

It was a convincing victory from Maresca’s side, having made it all the way to the latter stages despite a group stage defeat against Flamengo, in which Jackson was sent off after just moments on the pitch.

The former Leicester City figure’s first season in charge was not the most ideal of circumstances, with results seeing him come under pressure straight away, but fans are behind him now more than ever.

With Jamie Gittens and Dario Essugo also joining this summer, there will inevitably be some exits over the coming weeks, with several stars already being linked elsewhere.

Football Insider understands that Aston Villa are accelerating their move for Jackson, with Ollie Watkins linked with an exit, and he is not the only player whose future is uncertain under Maresca.

Ben Chilwell is looking to join another Premier League club, Mick Brown told Football Insider, with Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Carney Chukwuemeka, Armando Broja, and Renato Veiga expected to leave.
