Joao Pedro responds to Wolves star Matheus Cunha amid exit whispers

Brighton striker Joao Pedro has responded to a message from Wolves ace Matheus Cunha as both players have been linked with summer exits.

Cunha has been the standout performer in a dismal Wolves team and is expected to leave the club in the summer.

Arsenal were interested in a move in January, but Nottingham Forest have emerged as surprise suitors for the Brazilian striker’s signature.

Following the international break in which Cunha scored for his nation in a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of rivals Argentina, the striker posted a message to Wolves fans on social media.

Matheus Cunha tells Wolves fans ‘we never stop’

Ahead of their game against West Ham in the Premier League on Tuesday (1 April), Cunha posted a series of photos to Instagram, captioned: “We never stop!”

Brighton forward, Pedro, replied with two raised hand emoji’s in agreement with the striker.

The Seagulls striker has been linked with a summer switch to Liverpool, as the Reds look set to move on from the failed Darwin Nunez experiment at Anfield.

Pedro, whilst not as consistent a goal-scorer as some strikers, has a similar playstyle to former Anfield favourite, Roberto Firmino and could fit in well in Merseyside.

Matheus Cunha likely to require multiple replacements at Wolves

Football Insider Verdict

Signing a like-for-like replacement for Cunha will prove a formidable, possibly even impossible, task to undertake this summer.

Not only is he simply a calibre above any options Wolves could potentially attract, his presence on the pitch and the respect he garners from opposing defenders is something that takes time to cultivate.

The Old Gold should instead look to replace him with a number of young and talented options, rather than splashing the cash on one player.

As shown with the signings of Andre and Liverpool target Joao Gomes, Wolves are proficient at finding players with high upside at a lower fee.

The aim should once again be to search foreign markets and distributing the funds received from Cunha’s sale into a number of players, thereby lessening the risk if one of them does not work out.
