Jobe Bellingham transfer battle takes fresh twist as new suitor joins hunt for Sunderland star
Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham has attracted yet another suitor in the transfer market amid his impressive Championship season.
The England Under-21 international’s impressive efforts in the North East have helped Regis Le Bris’ men reach the playoff final, where they will battle Sheffield United for a spot in next season’s Premier League.
But Bellingham’s Sunderland exploits have not gone unnoticed, as he has attracted transfer interest from Borussia Dortmund.
His older brother, Jude Bellingham, shone for the Bundesliga giants before moving on to 15-time Champions League winners Real Madrid in 2023.

Eintracht Frankfurt join Bellingham transfer race
Bellingham has established himself as both a talented and versatile midfielder in the Championship, notching four goals and three assists in 40 second-tier outings.
But Dortmund are not the only Bundesliga club who are weighing up a move for the 19-year-old, who is set to represent Sunderland at Wembley on 24 May.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg via X [17 May]: “Eintracht Frankfurt have entered the race for Jobe Bellingham. It’s an open race. Borussia Dortmund are determined to sign him this summer, and RB Leipzig remain interested as well. Participation in the Champions League is very important for Eintracht.”
Sunderland may have to win promotion to keep Bellingham
Frankfurt have emerged as yet another high-profile top-flight outfit who are keen on acquiring Bellingham’s services in the wake of the talent he has displayed in Sunderland colours.
Meanwhile, the Black Cats are gearing themselves up for next week’s Championship play-off final, while a victory over Sheffield United at Wembley would bring Premier League football to the Stadium of Light for the first time since 2017.
Although Bellingham has not scored since Sunderland’s 2-1 victory over Norwich City on 21st December, he is one of several Mackem stars who could become a hero against the Blades on 24 May.
But while Frankfurt reportedly join the likes of Dortmund and Leipzig in the race for the teenager’s services, it has become clear that Le Bris’ men must win promotion to the Premier League to retain one of their key players.
If Sunderland do reach the top flight, Bellingham will likely stay in the North East for another season.
