Joe Aribo cited as Rangers told to get deal done – expert

Rangers need to sign a right-sided attacker.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton claimed the Ibrox club have never adequately replaced Joe Aribo.

The 26-year-old made the switch from Glasgow to the Premier League and joined Southampton last summer and made 21 league appearances in a season that saw the Saints relegated from the top flight.

Kent has followed Aribo out the door at Ibrox this summer following the expiration of his contract and joined Turkish side Fenerbahce on a free transfer.

The Gers did sign Malik Tillman, who could also play on the right, on loan from Bayern Munich for the 2022-23 campaign in a deal that included an option to buy for £5million but the German side have reportedly rejected that option.

Hutton insisted that the Gers need reinforcements in that area.

I think the wide right position has been a little bit of a problem,” he told Football Insider.

Aribo really changed that role with his technical ability and what he could do. Kent has left now as well so he is looking for options in those wide areas.

There is probably a couple of positions that he will want to strengthen.

These are areas that when you are playing games can change the game. If you have got a player like Ryan Kent who is on top form, in an instant can change a game so he is probably looking for that profile of player.
