Joe Aribo cited as the 'biggest problem' at Rangers mooted - pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed not replacing Joe Aribo has been the “biggest problem” at Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker suggested Aribo could have found a “better” club than Southampton.
Speaking to the Saints club TV, as quoted by the Daily Record (3 November), the 26-year-old said he had a choice between playing in the Premier League or the Champions League and couldn’t have both at the time of his move.
The centre-mid said he made a “very good decision” by picking the Saints.
The Nigeria international left Rangers in the summer and put pen to paper on a four year deal at St Mary’s stadium.
Aribo’s former club have been struggling this season and after a disastrous Champions League campaign are now seven points behind Celtic in the league.

McAvennie insisted the Gers haven’t been able to find a suitable replacement for Aribo.
“I think Aribo was one of their best players,” he told Football Insider.
“I think the problem with Rangers is that they did not fill that gap. He was the best player.
“Everyone wants to play in the Premier League it is as simple as that. That is where I wanted to play. I wanted to test myself against the best.
“Would I want to go to Southampton over Rangers? I do not know. I thought he could have done better than that but it was just for the money. Rangers have not filled that gap and that is their biggest problem.“
