Joe Hart reacts to Andy Carroll announcement as summer move beckons
Joe Hart has reacted to an emotional announcement made by French club Bordeaux after former England teammate Andy Carroll’s departure.
The ex-Newcastle United striker joined the fourth-tier outfit in 2024 and notched a return of 11 goals in 27 appearances.
During the same year that the 36-year-old joined Bordeaux, a period in administration caused a double relegation.
Before heading to France, Carroll plied his trade in the Premier League for Newcastle, Liverpool, and West Ham, as well as having stints in the Championship with the likes of Reading and West Brom.

At the age of 36, Carroll has proven his eye for goal last season, by scoring on 11 occasions in 21 league appearances.
Bordeaux will likely miss his attacking exploits next term, while the French club announced via Instagram on Friday, 20 June: “Thank you for everything, Andy. FC Girondins de Bordeaux would like to warmly thank Andy Carroll for his transfer to the club this season.
“Arriving last summer with a desire to take on a new challenge, Andy did not hesitate to rally to Gironde to attempt the Bordeaux adventure, showing a total commitment from his first days.
“On the pitch, the English striker has scored 11 goals in 21 championship matches. But beyond the statistics, Andy brought his experience, physical impact, and professionalism to every day, in the locker room as well as in big games.
“Off the field, he is an exceptional and generous personality that fans of the club and employees have had the pleasure of being with.
“Today, to be close to his children, Andy made the choice to go home. We fully understand and respect this personal decision.
“Thanks for everything Andy. You’ll always be here at home. Have a safe trip and see you soon!”

Appearances | 27 |
Goals | 11 |

However, the 36-year-old boasts the sort of experience that could make him an appealing acquisition for a League Two, League One, or even a Championship club this summer.
Although the former England man has moved closer to home for family reasons, he has no intentions of retiring, and previously told BBC Sport that he wants to play until he’s 40.
Carroll still boasts notable aerial ability, while his rich experience would allow him to offer important tutelage to younger colleagues at potential suitors in the transfer market.
Furthermore, during his most recent full season in England, the ex-West Ham forward notched nine goals in 30 Championship appearances for Reading back in 2022/23.
His stint in France will also have further enriched his footballing nous and knowledge.
