John Aldridge: Liverpool 26-year-old gave his best ever display v Tottenham
By Dominic Toner
John Aldridge claims that Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum gave his best ever performance for the club in the victory over Tottenham.
The 26-year-old completed 90 minutes as the Reds earned a comprehensive 2-0 win over Spurs on Saturday, with attacker Sadio Mane scoring a first-half brace.
They managed to keep Mauricio Pochettino’s in-form team quiet during the game and controlled the play well.
Jurgen Klopp’s side got their top four aspirations back on track with a win and dented Spurs’ in the process.
Ex-Reds striker Aldridge feels that Wijnaldum deserves special credit for his display and believes he has huge potential to succeed with the club.

“It feels a little unfair to pick out individuals after such a good team performance, if I’m being honest,” Aldridge wore in the Liverpool Echo. “But I just couldn’t let Gini Wijnaldum go unmentioned after Saturday.
“What a display. By far his best in a red shirt. Top class. Against Spurs, he was fantastic. For me, I think this lad needs to realise just how good he is.”
Wijnaldum completed a move to Anfield in the summer for Newcastle and has had spells in and out of the team.
The central midfielder has slotted in well alongside Adam Lallana and captain Jordan Henderson at times this season, while Emre Can is also vying for a starting position.
The Holland international has found some good form recently, scoring one goal and supplying two assists in his last three Premier League games.
He will hope to continue that run and cement his position in the starting XI for the rest of the season.
