John Hartson delivers two-word verdict as Celtic suffer shock 4-0 loss v Hearts
Former Celtic striker John Hartson has heaped praise on his old club after their 69-match unbeaten run was ended with a 4-0 defeat at Hearts, calling it an “incredible achievement”.
The Hoops have achieved enormous success since Brendan Rodgers took over in 2016 and completed an unbeaten domestic treble last season.
However, Rodgers’ side were second-best at Tynecastle on Sunday afternoon and were totally outplayed by Craig Levein’s Hearts side.
Hartson admitted that Hearts deserved the victory but heaped praise on his old side Celtic for what they have achieved over the recent seasons.
Hearts took the lead at Tynecastle thanks to first-half strikes from Harry Cochrane and former Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty.
Manuel Milinkovic made it 3-0 three minutes after half-time and converted a 76th-minute penalty to complete Celtic’s misery.
The Hoops remain two points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, two points ahead of second-placed Aberdeen with a game in hand.
The defeat was the first time Celtic had experienced a loss in domestic action since a 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone in May 2016, 585 days ago. It also marked Rodgers’ first loss as Hoops’ boss against Scottish opposition.
They will be looking to return to winning ways against Partick Thistle, who are struggling at the bottom of the league table.
In other Celtic news, Chris Sutton has given his verdict on the defeat after the game at Tynecastle.
