John Hartson questions Liverpool title bid after Bournemouth defeat
By Dominic Toner
John Hartson claims that Liverpool need to be more ruthless in winning positions if they are to win the title after a shock defeat against Bournemouth on Sunday.
The Reds were stunned by Eddie Howe’s side to lose 4-3 in the Premier League and twice threw away two-goal leads.
Nathan Ake pounced on a mistake from Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius to complete the scoring in the 93rd minute for the hosts and comeback from 3-1 down.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will be extremely frustrated with the defeat as they missed the chance to go second and they are now four points behind league leaders Chelsea.

“Liverpool will be kicking themselves,” Hartson told BBC Radio 5 live. “You can not, if you’re going to challenge for the title which I think they can do this season, you can not be giving up leads of 2-0 and 3-1.”
Liverpool showed once again their attacking flair against Bournemouth and scored three well-taken goals without their injured talisman Philippe Coutinho.
The Merseyside club have scored the most goals (35) in the Premier League this season after the opening 14 fixtures, with Klopp’s team often outscoring their opponents with their attacking talents.
The Reds have shown a big weakness in defence though and have conceded 18 league goals already, which is seven more than table toppers Chelsea.
German goalkeeper Karius is still making errors following his summer arrival and Liverpool have kept just three clean sheets so far in the league.
