John Lundstram backed to sign new Rangers deal ‘as soon as possible’ amid ‘massive’ claim – expert

Alan Hutton has urged Rangers to secure John Lundstram to a new contract “as soon as possible”.

The former Gers defender insisted the Ibrox club need to learn from their mistakes and avoid a repeat of the Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent contract dilemmas.

As quoted by the Daily Record (7 January), Michael Beale is keen for Lundstram, 28, to sign a new long-term deal in Glasgow.

The midfielder currently has 18 months left on his contract and Beale will urge the board to offer him an extension.

Lundstram has been a regular feature under the new boss and during Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s time at the club.

He has made 31 appearances across all competitions this season and has netted five goals.

When asked if it will be easy to convince Lundstram to sign a new deal, Hutton told Football Insider:I hope so.

I think Rangers have given him a platform to come and show his worth and he has done that. He did take a little bit of time to find his feet but I think he is really settling down now.

Under the previous manager he was pivotal and as well in the formation Michael Beale players. It suits him as a player.

Rangers

He is a massive part of Rangers moving forward and you do not want the same contract situation as wee see with Morelos and Kent.

He looks happy when he is playing every week so why not get it sorted out as soon as possible.

In other news, a Rangers expert has issued Connor Goldson claim as flashpoint re-analysed – ‘he doesn’t know it’s coming’.
