John Stones reacts to emotional Kevin De Bruyne tribute

John Stones has reacted to Manchester City’s emotional tribute to Kevin De Bruyne after the Belgian played his last game at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s men defeated Bournemouth 3-1 on Tuesday, 20 May, in an eventful game thanks to goals from Omar Marmoush, Bernardo Silva, and Nico Gonzalez.

Mateo Kovacic and Lewis Cook were sent off, while De Bruyne ironically missed a golden opportunity to score on home soil for the final time.

During his remarkable Man City career, the 33-year-old has won six Premier League titles, one Champions League, two FA Cups, and five Carabao Cups.

De Bruyne’s time in Manchester has seen him score 108 goals in 421 outings, while he will look to add to that tally against Fulham on Sunday, 25 May.

Man City eye move for Dani Olmo

Although Guardiola’s men are on course to seal Champions League qualification, as they sit third in the Premier League with just one game remaining, and the Etihad Stadium side also reached the FA Cup final, the current campaign has fallen well below their usual standards.

A City outfit that have won four of the last five top-flight titles will be disappointed that they have failed to win any silverware this term, except for the less prestigious Community Shield.

Guardiola’s side will be eager to compete for the Premier League and the Champions League once again next term, so it is vital that they recruit well in the summer transfer window, especially following the exit of the influential De Bruyne.

However, the Etihad Stadium club could miss out on signing Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz amid the hearings about their 115 financial charges.

But City have targeted Barcelona star Dani Olmo as an alternative to the Germany international.
