John Terry sends message as Liverpool complete ‘top’ new signing

Liverpool new boy Rio Ngumoha has received high praise from John Terry following his move from Chelsea.

The 15-year-old made the decision to leave his boyhood club in London for the Merseysiders at the end of last season.

Ngumoha was officially unveiled as a Liverpool player, signing a scholarship contract with his new club, and looks set to sign for the club professionally once he turns 17.

The left-winger was reportedly training with Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea first team last season after scoring two goals and providing two assists for England Under-16s.

After another summer of upheaval at Chelsea, academy products were sold as ‘pure profit’ to help ease the club’s Profit and Sustainability issues.

Ian Maatsen, Conor Gallagher, Lewis Hall, and Omari Hutchinson were all sold on for a collective fee of £145million throughout the transfer window.

Ngumoha left the West London club after failing to see a clear pathway into the first-team despite impressing throughout Chelsea’s age groups.

The England Under-16 international took to social media on Wednesday to say his goodbyes to Chelsea ahead of the move to Merseyside, writing on Instagram alongside a picture of himself as a child with a Blues shirt: “Thank you for everything, Chelsea academy.”

Chelsea legend John Terry took to Instagram to comment on Fabrizio Romano’s post about the move saying that “this boy is and will be a top top player”.

The youngster was one of three Liverpool signings in the summer transfer window, joining the club alongside Federico Chiesa and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Arne Slot’s side have had an impressive start to the Premier League season, winning all three of their games, including a 3-0 battering of Man United, without conceding a single goal.
