John Walters to oversee transfers in Narcis Pelach Stoke City update – O’Rourke
Narcis Pelach has been brought to Stoke City as a head coach rather than a traditional manager, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 36-year-old’s main focus will be coaching the players while transfers will be handled by Walters and others.
Walters, 41, who returned to the club as sporting director in March, made the decision to part ways with Steven Schumacher just five games into the Championship season.
Pelach is highly regarded in coaching circles having worked under Carlos Corberan at Huddersfield prior to his move to Norwich.

Schumacher left Stoke in 13th place with two wins and three defeats from their opening five Championship games.
Pelach’s only managerial experience came with CF Peralada and UE Figueres in Spain before moving to England with Corberan in 2020.

He has since gone on to work under David Wagner and Johannes Thorup at Norwich but is now set to take on his first managerial job in England with Stoke.
The club next face Hull City at the Bet365 Stadium on Friday (September 20) in their first league game of the post-Schumacher era.
